Nick’s first residential project after arriving from the UK, his experience with small footprint sites came into good use in this tiny space where the owners simply wanted an outdoor nook to enjoy a bit of sun and fresh air.
The owner is a keen gardener and has lovingly tended the trees and hedges over the last 10 years, which were planted as very young specimens.
The light well at the centre of the house had a reclaimed curb stone installed with a small copper water feature to sit alongside. The timber screen was milled using a technique that maximises the tree’s output potential and reduces waste, a method known as ‘radially sawing’.
